FAQ

What makes your jewellery suitable for sensitive skin?

I use hypoallergenic surgical steel, stainless steel or titanium to finish all Little Gems designs so that they are much kinder to sensitive skin.

Will your hypoallergenic surgical steel earrings work for me?

Hypoallergenic surgical steel is known for its anti-allergy properties and is unlikely to cause a skin reaction.

I have very sensitive skin and find that I can wear surgical steel all day long in comfort. My lovely Little Gems customers have found the same too.

A small percentage of people may be unlucky enough to find irritation with any material that they pop in their lobes. As I know how hard this can be I offer a no quibble 30 day return policy. If for any reason you feel your earrings aren't for you, or you have a reaction, you can return them to me for a refund.

Does stainless steel tarnish like silver?

One of the other benefits of buying stainless steel or titanium finished jewellery is that they are both such easy metals to care for. They are hard-wearing, don't need polishing and won't tarnish and go black like silver does.

Do you use real gemstones in your jewellery designs?

I source real semi-precious gemstones to create Little Gems Jewels designs. As natural gemstones will vary a little in size, shape and colour this means that every finished piece is slightly different and unique to you.

I do also use man made or lab created gemstones in some designs which you will see noted in the item description.

Are your gemstones ethically sourced?

I source my gemstones from a few trusted UK companies who have long standing relationships with their gemstone suppliers to try to ensure that they are as ethically sourced as possible. I also use some lab created gemstones in a few of my designs.

At the moment having a clear ethical supply line through from mining, cutting, polishing and selling semi precious gemstones is something that the jewellery industry is still working on. It is something that is very important to both myself and the gemstone companies that I choose to purchase from in the UK.

How should I care for my jewellery?

To keep your gemstones looking their best I always give the following advice

  • Remove your jewellery before bed
  • Remove your jewellery before bathing, showering or swimming
  • Leave about 20 minutes after applying lotions, perfume etc before wearing your jewellery
  • Gently clean your gemstones with a damp cloth or soft brush
